EPCH has urged the Govt. of India to intervene on the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), as its stringent requirements could disrupt exports, burden small producers and threaten thousands of livelihoods. EPCH delegations have met Shri. Giriraj Singh, Hon’ble Union Minister of Textiles, Government of India; Shri. EPCH has raised concerns over the steep tariffs imposed by the United States, subjecting handicrafts to a 50% reciprocal duty effective 27th August 2025. This critical challenge threatens both trade volumes and livelihoods. EPCH organised an awareness seminar in Jodhpur on 23rd August 2025, chaired by Dr. Neeraj Khanna, Chairman, EPCH, along with Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Director General in the role of Chief Mentor, EPCH and Chairman, IEML; Mr. Avdesh Agarwal, Chief Convenor, EPCH; and Mr. Hansraj Baheti, COA Member, EPCH, with participation from leading exporters from Rajasthan. The event drew around 200 exporters and stakeholders. Discussions centred on the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and recent US tariffs on handicraft exports, highlighting compliance requirements for wooden exporters, including traceable sourcing, documentation and risk mitigation..
